NIROG aims to tackle the significant problem of healthcare insurance accessibility for middle-class individuals, particularly those in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. 

Many are unaware of available government schemes, struggle with enrolment processes, and lack information regarding benefits and coverage. 

 NIROG provides a centralised platform to address these issues, empowering users to make informed decisions about their healthcare.

Many in rural areas lack access to affordable health insurance. While the working class relies on employer benefits or private plans, many others remain uninsured.

Government schemes, costing as little as ₹200/month, aim to cover everyone but remain underutilised due to low awareness and limited access.&nbsp;This often resulted in financial hardship and impacted their overall well-being.

Our primary objectives were to increase awareness of public healthcare insurance schemes, simplify the enrolment process and improve accessibility to information. We defined success using the following key performance indicators (KPIs): 

Based on my research, I have found that individuals face many challenges while accessing public healthcare.

My core focus was to create an app that is intuitive, multilingual, and informative. I prioritised simplifying complex information, streamlining the enrolment process, and ensuring resources were easily accessible

User persona and match the plan and scheme based on their location, age, annual income and number of family members.

The design process began with rough sketches blocking out main features of the app, followed by user flow diagram.

The user needs to upload the following documents within the app to receive personalised plan recommendations and assist in the enrolment process.

User onboarding with bite-size information 

Enable users to link their existing health insurance.

Authenticate users to access the app and collect their primary details, such as name, location, and health records.

Access the user's health records and documents to provide personalized recommendations based on their needs.

A user dashboard to view their health plan details and explore its benefits.

Break down the information on benefits and coverage into cards to guide users on how to avail them, including relevant video lessons for practical applications. Finally, users can apply online to enrol in the plan.

After successfully enrolling in the plan, users can view the list of empaneled hospitals and submit a claim application.

As part of the design process, I created an information architecture for the mobile app to address the problem statement before moving on to screen design. The architecture was reviewed by the following mentors:

The mobile app is designed primarily for Android users and utilizes the Material 3 Design Kit, which provides built-in styles and components.

On the basis of color psychology we have used BLUE color, followed by color theory to define the Primary, Secondary and Ascent color for the app.

NIROG successfully addressed the challenges of healthcare insurance accessibility.  The final design is a user-friendly, multilingual app that provides a single source of truth for public healthcare insurance schemes. It features streamlined enrollment, clear explanations of benefits, interactive learning materials, and hospital locators.&nbsp;

This project reinforced the importance of user-centered design in solving complex real-world problems.  The iterative design process, combined with extensive user research and feedback, was crucial for success.&nbsp;
